We have a three tier fountain outside near the front entrance to our home. Here in Florida, algae quickly accumulates in the water and on the surface of the well. The chemicals that can prevent this are either potentially harmful to the pump or don't work very well. So I often remove cloudy water and clean the fountain myself. It used to be a bit of a nuisance, especially when I flinched when I started the siphon with my mouth.
