Just received and totally excited! We built our central vacuum system over 25 years ago by purchasing Sears outlets, hoses and nozzles, using a 2 inch PVC pipe under the house and using a Sears vacuum for the power source. We had replaced the hose before, now it was held together with tape. We looked around for replacement hoses and found that many questions were left unanswered, leaving us unsure if this hose would even work with our system. Our current hose was electrified and had an impact attachment. However, we no longer need the mallet as we have replaced all carpeting with wood due to asthma. This new hose has two low voltage wires that run the full length of the hose with a switch on the handle. Our old hose had a solid metal ring that made contact with two probes in the outlets, which in turn powered the central vacuum. The new hose uses a detachable metal ring, half of which connects to a switch on the handle. The spigot end has a plastic locator tab that points one tab to each half of the split metal ring. Our wall sockets have a place where you can place your finger to open a small door; The tongue at the end of the hose fits perfectly into this space. This allows you to turn the system on and off from the handle. This new hose does not support a 120 volt whisk. The stainless steel telescopic wand is great and all the attachments are well made. This is a fantastic deal for the money! Thanks very much!
