The device received was hardware version 1. It might make a difference, who knows? just turn it on and off in our settings. You can unplug the PoE cable or plug in PoE and install an outdoor plug somewhere, but that's a hassle. We found it very hot and uncomfortable leaving it outside 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2.4 performance was good - not great, but good despite our 1 gigabit FIO uplink. But 5GHz wasn't even negotiated at 10ft line of sight, despite the various settings suggested in the TP-Link documentation. Disappointed because the PoE function is ideal for outdoor hotspot installation.
