If you're trying to tell a diamond from a moissanite, it won't work for you. Both my moissanite and diamond rings set the tone (and same color patterns) in motion. I also got a positive result for my sapphire ring. I'm not too shocked as sapphire and moissanite have a hardness of 9 and 9.25 respectively on the Mohr scale (diamond is 10). However, there was no sound at all with my CZ/imitation diamond road rings. I plan to use this to ensure that any jewelry I order online is authentic, but I will also check the stones with a magnifying glass.
