Instructions were almost non-existent and the explanations on the pictures were a bit confusing, but after a few minutes of looking at the details, the rocket scientist didn't need to figure out the details. It's strong enough for my 86lb Chessy. Gives him plenty of room to roam around when we need him out of our hair around the house. Great product, good price. Exactly as described. Another review stated that we should switch to a stainless steel pulley, which we did. I agree that the plastic that came with it looked a little flimsy. If I had a smaller pawl I wouldn't change it, but since our pawl is very large we decided to play it safe and upgrade the pulley.
