When I first tried soft contact lenses years ago I had no trouble removing them, but this time I had a problem. Insertion was easy, but extraction was a real challenge. Tired of all with varying degrees of success. I haven't had any luck with the grab and pinch method and unfortunately my optometrist didn't work with me. She handed me the lenses, left the room and told me to put them on. Well it was easy and I was told to leave the lenses on for a week. It would have been nice if she had stayed and worked with me, but apparently she figured putting in was a problem and taking out was safe. I left the office without realizing that this could be a problem. A week later I searched online and called my kids. My son taught me how to pinch and grab and believe it or not it worked. It was the first and last time. After that I just couldn't anymore. Desperate, I watched videos on YouTube. Some used cotton swabs, bent them in half and used them as small tweezers. It wasn't too difficult, but it still took longer than it should have and I didn't enjoy using them. When I saw this little device and read the reviews it looked like a good hedge to me. They are very soft and nicely packaged but there are no instructions at all which is frustrating. I gave up pretty quickly. They were very soft and flexible but I couldn't get them to hold my lenses. It might help to moisten them first. The method that works best and easiest for me is to use waterlines on the eyelids. Press the line on the bottom cap against the lens and then simultaneously press the top of the lens with the top cap. They should just pop out. For me, this method removes both lenses with very little effort and in a very short time, and I don't have to touch my eyes. There are two really good videos on YouTube that explain this better than I do and I recommend watching them. Like any method you use, it takes time, patience, and practice, although this method is the easiest for me because I blink a lot! The best advice I can give is to make sure you wet your lenses before attempting to remove them so they don't stick to the cornea. Eventually you will find a method that works for you. Then you'll wonder why you ever thought it was hard.
