Rear Frame/Chain. The instructions say the magnet should be no more than 5mm from the sensor and I had to make a bushing that pushed the magnet closer to the GSC10 sensor body. The speed sensor magnet attaches to the spoke of the wheel and it looked like a weak attachment point that allowed the magnet to possibly rotate around the spoke. The crankshaft sensor magnet is attached to a cheap plastic case with cheap double sided glue that doesn't work well. It definitely won't stick for long and I was able to get it off the crank easily. I later read that people recommended using rare earth magnets because they are stronger and therefore have a longer reach than the supplied magnet. For this I just used a pair of Revain Β½" x ΒΌ" rare earth magnets. I didn't have to go 5mm and they fit perfectly on the steel axles of the pedals. I chose not to use a spoke magnet because I can easily get my GPS speed on a MotoACTV or Garmin Forerunner. I gave the GSC10 another try after my first try because a colleague of mine was using the GSC10 on his Pinarello Dogma 60.1. - I think if the GSC10 is good enough for a pro race bike, It's also good enough for my Wal-Mart bike. The GSC10 is attached to the frame with two zip ties, but I was able to rotate the GSC10 because the rubber sheet adhesive came off without much difficulty. I later tried using a second rubber plate that has a narrower V-groove that better suits my chainstay. As a result, the GSC10 was securely protected. The GSC10 comes with a CR2032 battery installed, so when I took it out of the box my battery was already pretty low. The reset button didn't work properly and I can barely see the LED blinking during the recalibration. The pickups in the GSC10 sound like mechanical reed switches so I'm not sure how long the GSC10 will last in a professional/intensive environment. I replaced the GSC10 with a spare block and the LED was clearly visible and the reset button worked as per the instructions. Overall: 4/5 stars, should work for most bikes where the crank rotates close to the chainstay/frame. For those with more spacing, you can try stacking rare earth magnets or making your own spacer. Even with a smaller spacing, a rare earth magnet sticking to a steel spindle would be a better approach than relying on a supplied magnet.
