Review on πŸ“Ί Coby DTV102: Black ATSC Standard-Definition Converter Box for Optimal TV Viewing Experience by Sean Davis

The blue kangaroos gave me the BLUES!

The order arrived on time, I postponed it for a few weeks until I had time to install the converter box. When I finally tried to install it, I found that the box looked like it had already been opened and sloppily glued together. There was also no English manual, which is a shame because that's the only language I speak. I was only able to connect everything based on the pictures, but the cheap remote that came with it interferes with my Sanyo TV remote. It also sucks because you have to use the converter's remote to change channels (if you're not changing them from the device itself). So when I try to change channels, my Sanyo TV turns off. I fixed it by turning up the volume on my TV and then blocking the signal receiver on my TV. Every TV released after 2006 already has a digitizer built in, and in my opinion $40 is too much for a simple signal conversion. You get a crappy remote control, there aren't many options in the converter menu, and if you have a Sanyo TV you're pretty much SOL. First customer of Blue Kangaroos. This is my last too.

Pros
  • OTA HDTV Downconverting for use with Standard and Enhanced Definition TVs (480i/480p)
Cons
  • Expensive
