Works great with whetstones

It takes a little practice to learn how to use a whetstone, but it does a good job of keeping the blade of my Okatsune secateurs sharp. A few tips: 1. This sharpening stone should be soaked in water (not oil!) for a few minutes before use.2. Use the flat side of the whetstone for sharpening, not the rounded side.3. Only sharpen the large main cutting edge of the Okatsune secateurs, not the wind-up blade. The recording blade has a concave edge. When you take it off, the blades will not mesh well.4. Don't press hard. This is a fairly coarse (P600) sharpening stone that doesn't require much pressure.5. Make 10-20 long strokes to the tip on the outside edge (the side you see when the secateurs are closed), then flip to make the inside edge, check for sharpness, then close again with two pulls on the outer edge. The outer edge has a 23Β° edge, but since most of the blade is also angled, finding it can be tricky. To find it, lay the whetstone flat on the blade's large inclined surface. This is about 14Β°, then tilt it another 9Β° or so to find the edge. You should almost feel it. Sharpen only this part.7. The inner edge has a 15Β° edge. Lay the sharpening stone flat on the edge, then tilt it another 15Β° for the edge.8. A little oil after application doesn't hurt
