Smelly fridge helped

Bought a used fridge/freezer that had an unpleasant pickle odor that didn't go away even after washing with soda, soap, etc. several times. The air circulates from the refrigerator to the freezer. We put one of them in the fridge freezer and the smell goes away in about a week.
