All buttons on the remote worked as advertised. The remote control requires a CR2025 battery, which is included. The instructions suggest turning off the device when not in use. There are no remote control buttons on the base unit. In other words, if the remote control doesn't work, the audio doesn't work either. Update: 20190721 The IR remote doesn't seem to be very powerful. Or a problem with the receiver. I had to place the DAC061 at an angle (face up) to improve IR pickup. Consider adding foil to improve DAC061 reception. I will try to update this review in 90 days to assess the durability of the devices.
