Ease of Use - when fitted correctly

When researching this product I found the available Revain reviews to be very limited and unhelpful. Some reviews say this device works great, but details are few. Other reviews implied the device was useless or worse, but again provided few details. I hope this review fills in some of the gaps. First of all, I have to say that the instructions on the back of the box are basically useless. Pictures are of low quality and do not go well with written instructions. Compounding the problem is that the written instructions are not very detailed, not entirely accurate, and incomplete. The video available on the Revain product page is somewhat helpful, but the steps to set up the device are not entirely accurate. These are the simple steps required to set up the device: 1. There is a small needle lock lever on the front of the tool. Rotate this lever 180 degrees and then remove the needle.2. With the needle removed, insert a strip of "soft needle" into the slot at the top of the tool, making sure the inserted end fits snugly into the hole. (It's very important that the tiny round ball at the tip of the soft needle goes into the tiny round hole just behind the slot - you'll see what I mean.) Insert the needle into the hole it was removed from and guide Fully insert the needle.4. Lock the needle by rotating the locking lever 180 degrees again. These build steps are actually quite simple and easy to follow. If everything was done correctly, the tool is now ready to use exactly as shown in the video. Using the tool: 1. Insert the needle into one of the small soft buttons (the small indentation on the button should face up).2. Push the needle through the fabric and then through the second small button.3. Simply pull the trigger on the tool and one of the soft needles will pass through both knobs to lock them together.4. Just pull out the tool and you can repeat the process with a different set of buttons. Final Notes: 1. "Soft needles" come in two sizes: the shorter ones are about 2 cm (5/8 inch) wide and the longer ones are about 3 cm (1+ inch) wide. The width of these soft pins determines the spacing between the small soft buttons once connected and this spacing cannot be adjusted. 2. Soft needles are very thin and easy to pull out of buttons. So don't expect them to withstand heavy loads. It can take a few buttons, a foot or less, to fasten something like a duvet together. This tool works and works well, but as the thickness cannot be adjusted, the buttons are quite small and the connections are a bit brittle, this solution may not be suitable for all applications.
