Review on Norpro 50-Piece Recyclable Bags for Enhanced Eco-Friendly Use by Kevin Staniszewski

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Formerly called biodegradable compost bags. Name changed because it's just plastic bags that can't be composted.

When I bought this product in March 2013 it was labeled Norpro Degradable Compost Bags 50 Pack. (see attached photo of my order). That product has since been renamed "recyclable bags,” and with good reason. They don't decompose, let alone compost. The sacks are lying on the bottom of my outdoor compost bin, completely undamaged, two years after they were placed there. The rest of the bin contains pure compost. I had to take the undamaged plastic bags out of the compost and send them to the landfill. I can't even process them right now. About half a year ago I switched to Oggi Eco-Liners, which break very quickly. UPDATE: I finally used a batch of compost that was made FIVE YEARS AGO. I still choose completely whole compost bags. They are not even remotely compostable.

Pros
  • Perfect to take with you when you walk your pets!
Cons
