Review on Sewell Direct Wireless Repeater Extender by Tony Nicholas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great - great product

My MBR TV setup includes a cable box installed in a closet about 50 feet from the TV (hanging over the chimney). When set up, A/V used a wired infrared setup that ran through walls, under floors, to a toilet. Unfortunately, some mice gnawed at the wiring and it doesn't work. I've tried everything including next gen extenders (bought 6 of these for different TVs over the years) and most recently Startech. Next generation have not been updated for years and eventually lose their functionality completely. No customer service at all; Letters fall into a black hole. I had high hopes for Startech. Easy to set up and works straight away. The problem is the lag time. I could live with that when watching live TV, but it was completely impossible to play programs from a DVR (which is cloud based). I lost hope until I tried the Sewell Blaster. It took me less than 5 minutes to set up and everything worked right away. Little or no delay and I am very happy. Note: Speaking of Sewell, the absolute BEST way to control your HDMI-based TV is with the Sewell Direct SW-30062 Dual-Band InjectIR that Revain sells for $55. It's really plug 'n play and works without delay. Bought 2 of these to control the TV in my apartment where I had to hide the boxes in the cupboards. Well made, great instructions (in line with the devices) and I just love this product. I bought mine direct from Sewell (same price) because I couldn't find it at Revain when I needed it, but they have a great returns policy and I've been told it's a great C/S. If you can't use them, use a blaster.

Pros
  • NOTE Some devices use RF instead of IR for the remote control. Blast IR Wireless Pro only works with IR devices.
Cons
  • Functionality
