We liked it so much we bought two. The bristles are stiff but not hard. Foams easily. It really is stainless steel! It can even be opened up for cleaning (I think) as the base is held in place by two screws. In fact, I never removed the screws on ours. lolUpdate 9-10-21 Still in perfect condition, should have replaced a cheaper plastic several times. We've been using it every day for over a year now and it hasn't lost a single bristle. Highly recommended
