I bought a small bottle of BioKleen and got an A on the EWG website. (I used to use a branded C-rated powder, but it did a terrible job leaving detergent residue on black fabrics and a perfume smell that masks odors rather than eliminating them. Our microfiber towels smelled like a wet dog.) We did a high-capacity (4.5 cubic feet) high-efficiency top-loading washing machine. The first batch of BioKleen I tried was a large batch of dog mats. The recommended amount is half a cap, but the cap is tiny so I used a full cap. A huge amount of foam turned out, and everything came out clean and fresh and smelled ... nothing! No dog smell, no perfume, just cleanliness. High efficiency machines don't foam much so I decided to try half a cap next time. This proved to be sufficient - half a cap was enough for even the dirtiest load. An added bonus is that all of our garments are softer without the use of fabric softener. We live in a hard water area and BioKleen seems to be able to deal with the scale build up. So three months later and many, many downloads later, my little bottle of BioKleen is still two-thirds full. My clothes are softer, cleaner and smell fresher than ever. This is our cleaner for life and we are very satisfied.
