After inspection I was satisfied with the quality of this device. I had trouble breaking it as the back was so tight I almost broke my wrist when it finally came loose. I don't know if there should be a rubber gland on the back, but this doesn't seem to affect function. However, the front has a rubber O-ring. For a number of years I have been trying to figure out the best way to apply a semi-liquid lubricant (pudding-like consistency) to the hubs of my trailers and it has worked great. Yes, you have to put in a little effort to push the lube through, but that got the job done quickly, which is usually a messy job. It has earned its place on the wall next to my grease gun.
