Review on Upgrade Your Display with Viotek GFV27DAB: 165Hz Widescreen with Adaptive Sync and High Definition by Dave Perron

Revainrating 4 out of 5

VA flickering with Adaptive Sync enabled.

I had this monitor for 3 weeks and returned it because every time you turned on Freesync/G-Sync (Adaptive Sync) the brightness on it flickered. You can't use adaptive sync as advertised, as you'll have to turn it off (or lock the framerate) to avoid flickering brightness. All VA panels have this type of flicker, some worse than others, no cable, not even VESA certified cable, will work. If you are considering buying this or any other VA monitor for PC gaming with adaptive sync, I would avoid VA and stick with TN or IPS if you plan to use adaptive sync. This monitor is currently one of the best 1440p 144Hz. The VA monitor is available in the market as the value for money (as of October 30, 2020) is $293. The stand is very good with swivel, height and swivel options and it is very well made. There is an RGB circle on the back of the monitor but I didn't notice it while sitting in front of the monitor as the monitor is brighter than the circle and no it is not controlled in any way except for rotating in the OSD Switch the monitor's menu on and off. Viewing angles were good and colors were good too, especially black due to the contrast ratio of the VA panels. I wouldn't recommend enabling HDR as it's not certified for any type of HDR. I rate it 4 stars because the build quality is A, the stand swivels, rotates and adjusts the height very well, although it's a bit difficult to move, the pad performs really well (recommended to be "Medium". leave it on if playing at 144 Hz, turn it off if playing at a lower refresh rate). The picture quality is very good, but I don't give it 5 stars because you can't turn on adaptive sync because the brightness flickers. This monitor can be a great secondary display for content consumption, or a main display if you lock your fps or disable adaptive sync while gaming.
