Review on Nikwax Hardshell Cleaning and Waterproofing Duo-Pack: Ultimate Protection for Your Outdoor Gear by Todd Saunders

I have a Marmot Precip raincoat which I have had for about 3-4 years and wear fairly regularly. I got caught in a heavy downpour a few weeks ago and the jacket just soaked it up instead of shedding it. Decided it was time to either change or restore. I read some reviews from REI that specifically recommended this product, so I decided to give it a try. After washing with Tech Wash I tested with a spray bottle (as recommended) and the jacket soaked it up straight away. I also washed my wife's Outdoor Research case (can't remember the model) and it was fine but worked better from the start. So I figured I might have to replace the jacket after the first wash. I washed both jackets with TX Direct and tumble dried on low heat. Tested this morning and voila! The water pooled in beads and wasn't absorbed at all! I was very impressed. We'll see how long that lasts, but $17 for this bundle was at least a third of what I would pay for a new Precip, so thanks Nikwax!
