I used these gloves during the PNW mountaineering season. They held my hands comfortably down to around 15°F. Will likely work in colder places if you're moving. They did get a little warm while climbing, but other than that they were pretty versatile. These gloves are also quite water resistant. We constantly dipped our hands in snow (often mud) and were caught off guard by some rain, and these gloves stayed dry on the inside. They also dried very quickly, which is important on multi-day mountain trips! I used them once for climbing during a downpour. Even with direct pressure from my hands on the wet stone, these gloves stayed dry for a surprisingly long time (about an hour, I'd estimate). But in the end they got wet, like almost everyone in such conditions! I ended up buying two pairs of these gloves, one for my wife from REI and this pair from Revain because REI only had one left. They suit us perfectly because the fingers in these gloves are longer than usual so you don't get that weird webbed feeling that some gloves have.
