This diamond stone is not flat. The edge is higher than closer to the center. I scratched my knife on #1000 because it is #400 as the #400 side seemed smoother. Uneven flatness is not good for knives, especially single-bevel knives like Yanagiba. Maybe good for chisels. The grit rating for me is in the hundreds. Very aggressive cutting of diamond stone. Too good to be true for the price. Instead, it took me some time to sand down the shiny edge on my wet rocks.
