I purchased the nüvi 30lm and noticed significant software changes compared to the nüvi 40:1: Does not give street names for turns. It just says turn right 100 meters then turn right. It's really confusing on the freeway when freeways intersect. It says don't recalculate if you're off course, which is confusing to me. There will only be new directions. I found this confusing because I still had previous directions in my head and then there were new conflicting directions. It does not have a QWERTY keyboard and the ability to install it. It has an alphabetic keyboard (abcdef etc.). I find it very difficult to use. There is no mention of these changes in the owner's manual, on the Garmin website, or in the vendor's product description. I love the nuvi 40 but wanted to upgrade to lifetime cards.
