I needed extra lighting over the stove. A hanging stainless steel pot stand above the stove protected the hearth from overhead lights. I have searched a lot. The battery was a must. I looked at a variety of LED array/under-desk/assist motion sensors before settling on this one. I bought a block to see how it would work when mounted on a pot rack. The unit arrived and after charging it I held it over the oven and found that it takes at least two units to adequately illuminate the area of the oven. So I ordered a second block. In the meantime I disassembled the block I had, masked the plastic diffuser with blue electrical tape, masked the charge port, magnet and the curved metal plate at the base. assembled the device, wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and spraycoated it with Rustoleum silver metallic flake paint. Once dry, I disassembled the unit, removed all masking tape, reassembled it, and attached it to the pot rack. Silver metallic flake paint goes very well with stainless steel. When the second block arrived I repainted it too. These two units look like they are original for a pot stand. The distance from the pot to the stove is 37 inches. With normal kitchen lighting, my handheld light meter reads 130 lux on the stovetop. When I turn on the two light bars, the reading goes up to 325 lux. A remote controls both lights, which is nice. I used double sided tape to attach the remote control to the side of the knife block. woman likes it. When she needs more light, she simply grabs the knife block and presses the remote control. The main downside is the battery life. A larger capacity battery would be a really nice improvement. The wife says the performance of the light panels is ok, that she can live with that, but the panel area could be brighter. So I went ahead and ordered two additional units which when repainted form a four place mount on a hanging pot rack. All four will look almost identical to the track. built
