I have valves just about anywhere there is a faucet and now I prefer them to check valves because they pretty much deliver full flow while others choke. I've never had a single leak either, and I want to say the same about the valves I had to replace. When we moved into this house I couldn't find the main faucet and later found it in the basement and it wasn't ideal when I needed to turn off the water quickly so I went overboard and put faucets on everything including the sink, washing machine, Hot water tanks and tubs. After putting the whole house shutdown in the closet where I could reach it, the closet is now full of stuff so getting to it is problematic. I solved this by installing another one next to the washing machine with this valve and a small access panel with a door in the wall. Ball valves, including this one, are difficult to turn, but since that doesn't happen often, I can live with that. Also, when shutting off the whole house, I needed a valve that would allow full flow, so this one suits me for less than $3.
