Review on Graham Hands Down Wraps Count by Victoria Harris

Works well but pads are small and acetone has to be bought separately

I am new to gel polish and bought these pads because I didn't have time to go back to the salon and wasn't quite sure what I did. My internet research revealed that gels are removed by roughening the surface of the nail with an emery pad, dampening the nail with a cotton swab soaked in acetone, fixing with foil and pressing off the polish residue with an orange stick. I figured using these pads would be easier than building the materials yourself. Although I am satisfied overall, I would have liked the product description to be a bit more specific. It turns out these packages are nothing more than a small cotton pad attached to a strip of self-adhesive material (similar to that found in first-aid kits); They don't come with acetone or any other special remover so I had to find one anyway. It turns out that you can buy 100% acetone at the pharmacy along with other nail polish removers. Sally Hansen also sells gel remover along with gel nail polish. On the bright side, I've also discovered at-home gel kits and now do my nails at home. . However, the pads are small enough that they need to be wrapped tightly at the end so they don't touch the nail. While I'd like to understand the lack of acetone, I partly blame myself for not understanding the process well enough to ask the question. Bottom line, given the price, I'll probably use cotton balls and foil (or cut a roll of self-adhesive bandages into strips), but they work.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Sad packaging
