Not a perfect match, I wonder if it will work.

I am currently awaiting delivery (which should be today) but I was getting my new head unit ready and pulled the original head unit out of the car when I noticed some differences. I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner. Hybrid car. It has an audiophile package (factory amp + subwoofer) on the back, but it doesn't have a touchscreen or navigation box. I want to upgrade to an Android dual din touch screen head unit. I was concerned about getting the correct wiring harness as there are differences between all the wiring harnesses I've looked at. Some only have a larger 24-pin connector + a smaller 8-pin connector. Do some have an extra "plastic box" that always seems to come with "frugal steering wheel controls"? I don't have steering wheel controls. The photo shows what was connected to the back of the stock radio box (remember this is not a touch/navigation box). To my knowledge this harness will support the large 24 pin connector and the 8 pin connector but not the 16 pin connector that my standard radio has. From my research it appears that the 8-pin connector drives a factory amp + subwoofer. The 24-pin connector is normal as it provides power, speakers, etc. for the factory setup. But what is the 16 pin connector for and why can't I find a wire harness with it? Well I did, but it was over $100. According to the factory wiring, the 16-pin connector is labeled "Charger and Accessory". So I'm guessing the 16 pin connector might not be needed? There is an extra connector under my radio, in the same place as the cigarette lighter connector. I don't mind if it doesn't work. Not sure what other features I might be missing without that 16-pin connector. Not sure if I need to return this and order more expensive, more elaborate and more functional seat belts. Edit: I have seat belts. The color matched all new aftermarket equipment and the wiring harness connected to the unit and the vehicle. I definitely heard a popping sound from the amp/subwoofer, but the unit won't turn on. I know my wiring is fine and the fuses are fine. I'm curious if the lack of a mid-size 16-pin connector is causing the problem. The only way to test this is to order a $100 pendant and test it πŸ‘Ž
