Like other reviewers I noticed a slight chemical smell when opening my brush set. I put the whole set out on my patio for a few hours to air out. I see it like this: The hands are made of synthetic fiber and the case is made of synthetic leather. The set was likely made and immediately boxed to seal in those smells. In my opinion, this is not necessarily a bad thing. This means my makeup brushes are clean and have never been exposed to moisture, dirt, mold or other things found in warehouses and vehicles. I prefer to air them in or near my own home, wondering what types of dirt or bacteria might be left on my brushes that I'm going to use on my face. Brush Set: Soft bristles of a beautiful cream to brown color with soft lavender tips and two medium brown bristle blending brushes. I haven't had any problems with losing weight. They hold the product well, the bristles clean up well with baby shampoo and water, the handles are comfortable and durable, and the storage box is nice and well made. I keep my brushes upright in a mug on my vanity, but having a case with me when traveling is handy. The only criticism: the color of the metal tips. In photos the metal appears to be a muted gold, but in person it is a very orange matte copper color. Not very pretty. Brushes in different sizes, additionally with an eyelash/eyebrow pencil, a comb/eyebrow brush and a small sponge for blending the eyes. The largest fan brush is VERY BIG, about 4 inches in diameter, and I don't know what to do with it, but it's very soft! My kids love applying it to their faces while watching me do their makeup.
