I bought a Honeywell HPA300 air filter and immediately bought a replacement filter. According to APKs. After 6-7 months of use, the pre-filter indicator light came on. The pre-filter was covered in dust so I threw it away and opened up the replacement filter box to cut out and put in a new filter. I noticed the poor quality of the replacement filter. The original was about 1/4 inch thick and had the consistency of THICK material. The new quality was more like a cheap air conditioning filter. I called KAZ USA, whose number was on the box. Obviously this is a third party. for Honeywell. I explained the problem to the gentleman from customer service. He said he had received this complaint from other customers but assured me that the filter capacity of the replacement filter was the same as the original filter. I told him that it was pretty obvious the new filter wouldn't work as well and the dust would certainly clog the expensive HEPA filters. He got defensive and told me their product had been thoroughly tested for quality and met the specifications for the Honeywell system. I asked to speak to his manager because I didn't accept his answer. He put me on hold for about 10 minutes then came back and said his manager was calling Harry and he offered to take my name and number and Harry would call me back before the end of the day. Not a single call came back. I waited two days, called again and asked for Harry. Banned again, but this time I need to talk to the big guy. He told me the same thing the customer service representative told me. I said again that I do not accept his answer. He told the story about their quality standards and testing. I told him I thought this was a marketing ploy by his company to increase sales of expensive HEPA filters. Again I got the story of the standards. I asked him if it was possible that I could receive a defective filter that could pass their test. He suggested that I send another filter and a call sign to return my "bad" filter so they could test it. About two weeks later I received my new filter and call sign. The new filter was a bit thicker than the one I was complaining about. Bottom line full bust size. I was talking to a friend about my problem with the KAZ (Honeywell) replacement filter. He told me he buys Lowes Filtrete brand filters for his air purifier. After going to Lowes I looked for the Filtrete brand. I opened it up in store to check the quality and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was THICK, just like the original filter that came with my air purifier. With the help of my wife, I took photos of two filters which I have included in this review. The one on the left is the Filtrete brand and the one on the right is a replacement KAZ (Honeywell) filter that I received that was supposed to be "good". You decide what you think can filter more dust.
