I love my Roomba and I probably change the filter more often than I need to. That being said, I'm always surprised when I pull one of these filters out of Roomba - they hold everything! The filters are always full of superfine dust, dog hair, things I'm sure my regular vacuum cleaner would never pick up. The filters themselves are designed for single use - I think they should be thrown out every three months or so (I could be wrong, I don't mean the instruction manual) but are long lasting. The plastic frame is covered in an ultra-thin material that's so thin it's hard to see how very small particles can even get through to get into the filter itself. However, filters are the heart of the Roomba 880 and nothing can replace them. Watch your allergies resolve or go away!
