There were loose surface mount electrical components inside the remote control
Loose surface mount electrical components rattled inside the remote control. The remote still worked fine, but I'm not sure how long that will last. It looks like the microcontroller responsible for lighting the LEDs on the fan has failed. An LED on the side that shows the current mode is permanently lit.
