I needed a set of parallels to work in a vise, strong construction to withstand the operation of the machine in the mill without paying a high price for the 'brand' - And that's it. I didn't buy this set to use gauge blocks, I bought them to be parallel and they match that score within a few tenths. And stupidly, I didn't even think about the case they got into, although mine opens and closes perfectly with a latch, and in fact I cut off the lid, not wanting to access the parallels faster!
