Review on 🚴 Enhanced Safety with Garmin Varia RTL510 Bike/Cycling Radar Tail Light Bundle: Real-time Alerts for Vehicles Approaching from the Rear by Mike Larkin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I drive alone and it was fairly reliable in alerting me to cars.

I drive alone and it was pretty reliable in alerting me when cars were approaching. The beep is important as it tells me I need to improve my situational awareness. I still use the mirror and look over my shoulder, but it's a great warning and compliment. I connected it to my Fenix 5 (handlebar mounted) and they work great together. Please note that this is useless in heavy traffic (city), but it becomes useful when driving on suburban or country roads where 75% of the time there is nobody behind you. If someone is always behind you, it actually becomes annoying (constant beeping) and inappropriate. I rode it for many hours in freezing temperatures (32 degrees) and it worked great AND the battery held a charge. Overall it's a little pricey and a little useless, but I'm very happy with it and would definitely buy it again. My only downsides are: 1) the battery is built in, so once it dies it all goes in the trash (considering the price and my green mindset, that's a bit concerning) and 2) it takes a long time. Place under your seat, I have a seat bag and these two don't match. Decreasing the vertical size would be ideal for the next release if Garmin is listening.
