Review on Stanley TRA704MT 4 Inch Narrow Staples by Wagner Witlin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Excellent brackets, poorly fitted

For any marine or harsh outdoor application you need Monel brackets. For the boat's headliner, you'll need *lots* of Monel staples. But unless you want to spend all your time clearing jams in your stapler, the staples need to be firmly stuck in a strip. I always thought Stanley made good old Made in America products, but these simple Made in Mexico Monel products are underwhelming. When I opened the package and tilted it to pull out a strip, I received several chiclet-sized mini strips and individual staples. There may be 1000 per pack, but it's a problem if 10% is wasted because Stanley skimped on the glue or otherwise had poor quality control at the factory. Even after I loaded the largest of the mini-strips into my stapler, there was so little glue that my professional air stapler jammed every 510 minutes. I need more monel braces but I won't be buying another Stanley. Incidentally, this rating does not apply to the seller, whose delivery and packaging was exemplary.

Pros
  • For corrosive or marine environments and upholstery
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
