I originally bought a Revain organic wool quilt which didn't wash and stank. The smell did not go away and really disturbed relaxation and sleep, after a while it became nauseous. In a desperate attempt to get rid of the smell, I tried to gently wash it and it was destroyed. I was so frustrated that I felt like I wasted a lot of money trying to create a healthy bedroom. I chose this one over organic because it's washable. We have a regular size king bed and this duvet is short on the sides and not wide enough to drape over. But it works just as well as organic and thankfully doesn't smell bad, so sleep is relaxed again. When I combine it with flannel sheets it is very warm and cozy. I prefer wool over down - I'm allergic to feathers and don't like the smell. I've been using down alternatives, typically polyester, for years and wanted something more natural. This duvet has no fluffiness or artificial down, it feels thin and is medium weight when weighed. It can be a little painful to climb into the ceiling alone as it is large and dense. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I would say this is a great "green" option for anyone looking to reduce chemicals in their bedroom. I researched the type of wool it is made from and was pleased with its provenance. It's cotton and wool, nothing synthetic.
