We use it to make Brazilian coffee. This is a very fine grind. We boil 48 ounces of water, add coffee and sugar and steep for 4 minutes. Then pour Big Joe into the pitcher. We used to have to sit by the stove and wait for the smaller portions to fill up, pouring a bit more and more at a time until it was ready - about 20 minutes, just standing and waiting. Now I can pour it all at once and walk away while it drips on its own.
