So I just found this product and thought it would be a good experiment. Contents: 90 Gallon Freshwater Aqueon for African Cichlids. Pre-drilled with Aqueon plumbing kit. Aqueon proflex 3 sump with wet/dry module (bioballs) Eheim 3400 universal return pump FYI, this pump is actually almost the limit of this sump as I have a small bypass on the drip plate. Canister filter Eheim Classic 350. This gives me about 2x water filtration and I have a ton of water moving around here. 2 spotlights 300w each. Currently set at 82F, lights off, only lights in main room work, this tank has about 0 sunlight as it is in the basement. No algae yet. As a water conditioner I use Seachem Prime. I go fish-free with Ace Janitorial Strength Formula Ammonia 10% solution, just water and ammonium hydroxide. The reservoir is approximately 60% or more full throughout the cycle. I'm using the API master test to test the waters. At this point, I add 3 capsules of ammonia to the water every 20-24 hours. Showing 0 or almost 0 before adding ammonia. Nitrite levels are VERY high, nitrate levels are very high. And by very I mean the maximum amount for the test. I would also like to emphasize that there are no fish in this tank and no food or other chemicals have been added. In addition, the water is very clean and without any strange smells. I bought 2 of these kits and just spoke to their support today. They suggested just adding a booster tube. I just made it, 2 full tubes. They told me to wait 3-5 days to see what happens without adding anything else. I asked about changing the water and cleaning the filter but they said no as there is no organic matter in this system yet. Now at this point in my cycle I expect nitrites to go down and as nitrates go up they will go up but it will be hard to tell if this makes a difference unless something drastic happens in the next few days . In order for their phone to support loans, they asked me to update them and let them know what was going on. I will come back here and edit this review as things develop. I had never heard of Aquabella until about 4 days ago. Upgrade and jump in stars from 3 to 4. After 1 day I went from an unknown nitrite level (max test value) to 0. Trust me I'm shocked by this and I almost think that somehow it doesn't make my test suite work properly but I ran the test 3 times. Attached is a photo on the product page of the bottles and charts. So far it's like some kind of magic potion that I'm having a hard time understanding. Also, after adding 3 more caps of ammonia (trust me, that's more than any fish can give) I'm still reading 0 about 20 hours after the first reading of 0! Update 12 days later: Ammonia and nitrite remained at the same level. 0 on each test. I add 3 caps of ammonia solution each day and test the water before adding more. Nitrates were still well off the charts (over 160ppm). I just did a 90+% water change and that brought the nitrates down to about 30ppm (that just goes to show how high they were). I have 36 fish arriving on the 27th, 4 more days. I have also reduced my ammonia intake to 1 capsule per day. I will do water changes from time to time to get my nitrates up to healthy levels but I will leave it at that for 2 days to see if there is any nitrate control. Once the fish are in I start a 3 day dosing cycle and stop adding ammonia to the water. So far this product has upgraded my tank 100% from 60% to 100% in one day in my opinion and never changed. nothing has changed since day one. Not sure how it will be able to control nitrates as my levels were so high I can't expect any product to fix them hence the massive water change. I will continue to update as events develop. I also submitted a photo of my tank before adding the fish. The stone is lacy rock, the bottom is a mixture of 20% crushed coral and 80% Caribbean sand. ACS00223 African Ivory Coast sand for aquariums. Plants are plastic because fish would destroy anything real.
