Home office usage in the real world: Follow me feature: After a week of usage I couldn't stop noticing the room getting very cold before the device turned itself off. For example, it remains fully air-conditioned even after the room has cooled down. So I bought a good quality AC room thermostat to try and get a better picture. Turns out the "Follow Me" feature doesn't really work, it's more of a gimmick. According to the manual, the remote control sends a status update to the device every 20 minutes, depending on the room temperature. However, the thermostat in the remote control is quite imprecise. As a result, the room temperature is 78.6 degrees and the device does not start even though it is set to 74 degrees. Conversely, once started, the device will remain on until it receives an update from the remote that the room has reached the desired temperature. This results in the room being 68 degrees cold while the temperature is set at 74 degrees. It may not seem like a lot, but for a small office, it makes the difference between a sweater or not because the air is constantly blowing toward you. Internal thermometer: After unsuccessful attempts to use the follow me function, I decided to stop using it and start using the internal thermostat in hopes of better results. The internal thermostat should be updated more frequently and keep the room temperature, that's true. However, the room temperature varies greatly depending on the location of the device. For example, if the device is near a window (which is necessary for operation), the device will detect higher temperatures due to sunlight hitting it. There is no sunlight on the other side of the room I am sitting in. So where the device stands there will be a stable temperature of 80-90 degrees, and where I sit it will be 50-60 degrees. The result is an incredibly cold room and a device that turns on about every minute or so. I live in a place where over 95 degrees is not uncommon. In fact, in summer the temperature reaches 100+ with 100% humidity. This air conditioner should help keep my office cool during the pandemic months while I'm working 16-hour days. However, it has become rather tedious to constantly fiddle with the device to get a reasonably correct temperature. I find myself reaching for the remote every 20 minutes to change the temperature again. This results in a great loss of time. I see the best use for this device if you have a window out of direct sunlight and the room is not constantly being cooled. It's impractical for an office, and advertised features don't work properly. In general, I would like to return the device before the 30-day return period has expired.
