Terrible wiring. The solder joints on this unit are terrible and the input switch broke after about a month of use. Not knowing about the loose wire, I plugged it in yesterday and was greeted with sparks and pops. Luckily the GFCI socket did the trick. The pictures I've attached show where the short occurred as well as the random wiring my unit came with. In addition, the voltage displayed on both the reference disk and the analog display of the voltmeter is significantly lower than the true output value. I can't remember exact numbers, but I measured an output of around 135V when the unit was set for 110V. As other reviewers have mentioned, do not purchase this unit without advanced electrical knowledge. This tool needs to be tested before use (which I didn't) as there are obviously quality control issues. After taking the time to re-solder and re-solder everything to the correct connectors, the problem was resolved on mine. However, due to the unsafe state it came in out of the box, I recommend spending the extra cash on a safer, better quality device.
