If you've never worked with metal threads, you know this spark plug method is relatively easy, as the smaller thread pulls the larger thread. The chance of messing things up is greatly reduced when you have spare spark plug threads. However, it's not for the faint of heart. Use lube, turn off the faucet several times during the process, preferably remove the head OR ensure all debris is removed from the barrel. Note that these spiral coils don't have a shoulder - they can go to the cylinder if not done right. 3 problems with use... 1) None of the threads that came with them were long enough for the spark plugs I was using - I used the longest one. These special spiral spools CANNOT be stacked on top of each other - the filaments will bind and strip your newly created filaments and/or your spark plug. 2) Use some fixative (high temp thread lock) - insert the spiral flush with the hole and apply a small amount of thread lock (the plug should conduct current to the head effectively). Leave for a minimum of time, then hit the top of the wound coil with one punch to expand the top ribs. 3) Remember that any grease in your cylinder will take some time to burn off and once installed it may not start very well at first. There is a more expensive brand that claims to work better and has a grommet on the earbuds.
