This is a direct replacement for the OEM Jaguar/LR key fob shell. Note that the metal side panel is lighter and doesn't have "Jaguar" or "Land Rover" lettered on it. But it's easy to fix if you still have the original. Continue reading. When I bought a used XF, one of the key fobs was partially crushed and the rubber cover fell off (a common problem). Luckily the circuit board was fine so I replaced it with this new case. I polished the Jaguar OEM metal part and then attached it to this new body. It attaches more firmly to this case than the OEM and gave a nice factory look. Whereas the plastic part of this new case is a bit harder to touch. Constructed from what appears to be a more durable polymer than rubber that has a tendency to peel from OEM key fobs. For me that's a plus. Installation Notice. To open the OEM key fob, follow the battery replacement instructions in the owner's manual (slide the metal piece down to reveal the physical key, insert between the two plastic halves and twist until they separate). You'll notice that the OEM key fob is only attached to two small plastic posts on one side of the case. These posts will detach from the old case. Don't worry about that. Make sure you remove any leftover pins from the board itself so you can see the two holes all the way through the board. At this point you have a circuit board and a separate metal "shield" covering the smart chip. Place them on top of each other in the new case. The holes perfectly match the new racks in the replacement case. Join the two halves together, insert the physical key and put on the metal piece. Very easy.
