Review on πŸ”Œ VIZIO XWR100 High Definition Dual-Band Wireless Internet Router by Tony Francis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Super easy installation, reliable and worth it!

Setup was easy and I was online in about 3 minutes using my PS3, XBox, laptop, tablet and phone. My only concern is that there is no user manual/troubleshooting guide and there are some things about the router that should be explained or at least easily accessible to the user. First, a router has 3 networks it can broadcast to. VIZIO HD (5GHz), VIZIO (2.4GHz) and one labeled STANDARD (slowest and disabled by default). When looking for a connection, I noticed that the VIZIO HD network is not listed on any of my devices. I was really hoping to connect to the fastest network for Netflix picture quality, but that didn't happen. I called Vizio support and (Holy Moly, they're in South Dakota and they speak perfect English! Will the miracles never stop?) They told me that the VIZIO HD network is only for devices that support dual band (which the most devices do not). t today) - not a big deal, but somewhere in their (defunct) documentation it should be mentioned. The VIZIO network works fine (after initial network SSID naming errors - devices would lose connection overnight and the router had to be reset every day - after remapping the SSID this problem disappeared) and I get a fast connection (about 20 megabytes per laptop , 16 on PS3). Overall, I would say that considering its price, this router far exceeds any expectations I had of it. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of documentation. If you are considering this router for your home network, you are making a good choice. It might not be the best or fastest router in the world, but for the price it's definitely good! I hope I've helped you make a decision.
