I am currently an "expert" on these Arlo Q cameras and bought 2 new and 2 refurbished a few months later. The new ones worked like clockwork straight away, but they're not cheap, so I decided to try the refurbished ones. Here's the problem with refurbished ones: They're refurbished by Arlo and look like new right out of the box. The main problem is that if you get a refurbished phone that hasn't been removed from the previous owner's account, you can't get it to work in your phone app (or whatever). In this case, you MUST CALL Arlo Technical Support at (408) 638-3750 and provide them with the serial number of the device. You must remove the camera from the previous owner's account. Once they are successful, the installation will be VERY smooth. Arlo's tech support is great - there aren't two options, but it still takes a while. If you're not "skillful" at all, this whole process is going to be a problem. If you are patient and can avoid disappointment, you will be fine. Much luck! I still think it's a great camera and once again, Arlo's technical support is top notch.
