I have been making acrylic at home since the pandemic began. I now have a complete setup, but I was missing a few things. This set definitely helps me fill in the gaps. When I wanted a blue accent nail, my previous kits didn't have that. If you buy a set of the basic items outlined below, they will suffice, and they alone are probably worth the $25 I spent on the entire set. - Plastic tips/foil base - Pink/white/clear acrylic powder - Brushes/tip pens, nail clippers, glue, glitter, nail buffer, file, glass monomer container. Overview: Brilliant acrylic and powder are very small. After reading some other reviews I was expecting this and bought it based on the "reference size". The good news here is that for every thick glitter, there is a corresponding smaller glitter of the same color. The vast majority of colors are also the same color in acrylic powder. I believe if you wanted to make a complete set in this color you could mix three together and make 10 nails out of them. If I try this I'll probably save my accent nails for last, so if that's not enough I can just go with a different color. I'll update this review if I try it. Some notes on my photos: - Small containers are concave on top (actually it's the bottom). This makes the container appear larger than it actually is. In addition, these containers are always about half full, regardless of the contents. For size comparison, I used a regular sized high gloss acrylic container from Modelones. This container is 0.33 oz. Visually, I would estimate that the sample containers hold about 1/10 of that amount. There is absolutely nothing on the packaging or in the product description that suggests the weight. Suffice it to say that they are so small that they practically do not matter. I'm sure you couldn't get two sets of nails from any of these, either individually or mixed with powder. - Computer mouse also for size on a picture. - I have a regular sized glitter case. I used it once for size comparison. These containers were smaller than I expected. They contain a perfectly acceptable amount of sparkles and "pearls". Mainly due to the fact that I chose this particular set (after many reviews of very similar sets), there was a form. The image and description indicate the flower shape. My form makes arcs. I will never use it. Flowers are a much more versatile nail design. - There is a small nail brush in the set but it is not in my photos. My baby ran away with it. Usage: - I will combine three containers of the same color (large glitter, small glitter and colored acrylic) to use. The glitter containers are NOT acrylic glitter, just glitter. I also have some clear, pink, and white acrylic paints that I can mix to make them more vibrant. - I am very disappointed with the top coat. Nothing indicates it needs UV, but without UV it will matte and not fully cure. The description clearly states that UV light is NOT needed. I thought this might be a mistake as "UV gel" is included in the package but is required at least for the top coat. I won't be using this anymore. - When building your acrylic paints, just use the tips - don't worry about the foil. I've only seen one "pro" ever use it, and it didn't use a drill. Hint: Take a drill. They are absolutely worth every penny and they are not expensive. Damn game changer. When I first made my own acrylic paints, I basically worked on them all day during conference calls. With a drill it takes much less time. I haven't used most of the set at the moment, but I'll provide updates if anything unexpected happens. If there are no updates to this review, let's assume that everything worked as expected, or that I've permanently mutilated myself with my drill and can't type anymore. Update: I started with yellow so I wouldn't waste my favorite color if I messed up. I mixed the whole container with glitter and the whole container with suitable acrylic and then cut about half with clear acrylic. It's still a very light canary yellow and I've had plenty of time to go through the entire set and leave room for error. I could also apply thick glitter, but I didn't. Update 2: I just opened the monomer and tried using it for the first time and I immediately threw it away. All of the monomer smells bad, this one smells bad. I almost threw up.
