I got this because my dog likes to lie on cement when it's not too hot but I don't like him lying down with ants and I wanted a place for him to lie down during the winter months that weren't cold. (He is a house dog but likes to go out on a covered patio. I ended up buying a regular dog bed the same size as this one and put it on it. He accepted it immediately. The sides of the regular dog bed give room behind him to put his head on place.
