Great foot valve. I bought it at the same time as a 1.6 HP garden pump. Absolutely necessary as it maintains water pressure in your hoses when you temporarily turn off the pump (e.g. when changing from sprinkler to nozzle). It also filters the incoming water, preventing clogging or pump damage. I use it in the lake to water the grass. Indispensable. Also, it's very heavy so it acts as a "weight" and quickly lowers your hose to the bottom of the lake and holds it in place. Have been using it every day for over a month now with no problems. Costs money. Happy I bought it.
