So far I like them a lot

I've been using them for almost two months now (two or three times a week). This is my first time wearing knee pads having had a minor accident and nearly crushed my knee on a rock so I really have nothing to compare to other knee pads. The main reason I bought these pads over other brands is because I didn't want to take my shoes off to put them on. I measured my feet according to the chart on the RaceFace website and bought a size Large based on that. They fit great except the bottom velcro is too short. If I had bought a size up I felt the rest of the knee pad would have been too big. The first time I used them I closed the bottom velcro so it was a little tight (not tight) and after 15 minutes I had a bad calf cramp. I had to stop and fasten it so that the velcro on the bottom (calf) strap was just attached, meaning the hook side was barely touching the buckle on the loop side. My calf was tight all day after this trip. Since then I have hardly fastened the bottom velcro and everything has been fine. This is a design flaw as the rest of the knee pad fits great and there are no issues with the top strap. Unless you have a bat-sized calf you probably have the same problem as I definitely don't have large calves - I'm 5ft 9in and 140lbs. "That's a problem, but I'm not very happy with these pads. I don't even notice them while riding. Are they hot? Of course, and there's no getting around that since you have a knee pad, but I don't notice it , while there have been a few days this year that I have ridden where the temperature has "felt" like 112 F and 114 F and it was like riding the bike in a sauna and having the pads I don't mind Pads are always wet when I take them off but there's just no avoiding it and I can't imagine other pads being any different as you cover your skin - that's just the price you pay when You want protection - they dry pretty quickly If you leave them open (unbuttoned) indoors (unless your house is damp. I've already washed them four or five times. When I get the dirt off my bike (and all other equipment ) wash off), they can be easily cleaned with it soft brush that I used to clean my bike. I just hang them on a stand on the patio while I wash my bike and by the time I'm done they're half dry. I take them inside and let them dry there and the next day they are bone dry. No falls so far but I've intentionally bumped my knee into a tree a few times and they feel they offer adequate protection from most falls.
