I recently bought this for our windows as we have a 3 year old son who loves to pull the blinds up in the morning and keep them open until dark. Well we live on the first floor of our apartment building and this is our master bedroom which also has a bathroom and everything can be seen from this window. Although we are not in a busy part of the buildings, there are still many pedestrians and children coming to our window, so privacy is definitely an issue. I was a bit skeptical at first as to whether I would get that out of the application process and whether it would work. I will say that the application wasn't difficult, I will say that the hardest part of all this is getting the size right as I didn't have a blade to cut with, I trimmed it with scissors so I can't say that mine End result was perfect but I managed it. I don't think they're made for big windows either, but as you can see I've gotten this to work to the best of my ability, it doesn't cover any butt pains, but it's enough that he usually pulls the blinds up to and from as I do did it, i was able to do it on both sides, for reference you can see the window with and without the film, but that's only after our son learns how to take it off, so be careful when using it, I have yet to reapply it so we can see if we can get better results if I reapply but for the most part I felt it worked before. I tried to look inside and strangely only our portable air conditioner was clearly visible, everything else was blurry. Overall I'm not too disappointed but I hope I try to get up and stay awake in our room.
