Very slow by design!
Note that these flash drives are slow by design and swapping them out with the same device won't make them faster. USB2 maybe, but the internals are slow, resulting in USB 1 speed (40x slower). Conducted various tests with flash drives of different formats. 16GB images copied. Speed 14 Mbps or 1.4 MB/s USB 1. This is 40 times slower than USB 2.junk.
