Surprisingly quiet, odorless and just what we wanted. Pillowcase instructions recommend a light rinse before use with the zipper closed. When the wash was over, I took them out of the washing machine and doused them with water - they really are waterproof. There was a flush timer in each pillowcase. I found it impressive. I flipped them over for a second rinse before using them and I had a feeling the material inside would make noises as soon as my head hit the pillowcase and I was wrong. After the second rinse everything was perfectly wet. I dried them and they put them on my pillows. We are very satisfied. Before these covers, my wife used only one pillow in our house in the morning without a stuffy nose. Now all our pillows have these covers and she can use all the pillows - we are very happy. The fabric is also quiet, which is a surprise. I thought it would rustle under my ears like plastic, but no. The outer fabric of these covers keeps the pillow from falling out of the cover - I hate it when pillows come out of the cover and we are very happy with these covers. Eventually I figured the plastic in them would stink - no way - doesn't stink. Overall it's great for my wife's allergies and a good restful night's sleep - didn't think it would be like this - but we are very happy with this bag, the zip, the fabric and the end result.
