Works fine for the most part, but not sure if it's new

To be honest I'm not sure I received a *brand new* product. Everything appears to be in place and well polished but the box it came in was open. When I peel off the tape covering the product packaging, there is quite a bit of lint and dirt on the sticky side. Inside foam packaging. the box is dirty as if it had been dragged across the floor. The aluminum protective film around the monitor was definitely exposed. I've been using it for about 2 weeks and for the most part everything works fine (ie color, brightness, image quality). BUT the volume is a bit questionable. Sometimes it's not that loud and I have to turn the volume up to the max, but since I've never used an external monitor with my laptop (MBP) I'm not sure if this happens with an external monitor or not.
